SNOWE STATEMENT ON PASSING OF JANE MUSKIE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) issued the following statement today on the passing of Jane Muskie, wife of the late Edmund Muskie, former Governor, Secretary of State and United States Senator. Mrs. Muskie passed away on Saturday at the age of 77.

“Mrs. Muskie was a woman dedicated to the State of Maine and, indeed, the entire nation. Her wit, spirit and unmistakable personality will be missed by those of us who were blessed enough to have known her over the course of her truly remarkable life. Jock and I extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Muskie family during this difficult time.”
