MD_DA124 DA MD DA124 Butter - Oceania MADISON, WI. February 05, 2009 (REPORT 5) OCEANIA INFORMATION GATHERED 01/26/2009 - 02/06/2009 U.S. DOLLARS PER METRIC TON, FOB PORT BUTTER: Oceania butter markets are generally steady with recent weeks although some prices continue to adjust lower. Traders and handlers indicate that sales are occurring, but often not at desired levels. For those that are experiencing slower sales, sales negotiations continue to be variable. Warehouse space is limited, especially in New Zealand, thus product needs to continue to clear ports and competitively priced products seems to be doing that. The milk production season is on the down side, thus butter production is also on the decline. 82% BUTTERFAT: 1,600 - 2,100 0930c steve schneeberger (608)250-3204
