Harpers Ferry Center:
- Produces more than 400 brochures, handbooks, posters, and charts
used throughout the National Park System.
- Provides brochures to approximately 330 parks, in consultation
with park staffs.
- Printed over 23 million copies of park brochures in FY2003.
- Reprints approximately 70 percent of park brochures annually.
- Has fully digitized more than 50 percent of park brochures.
Most revisions in digitized brochures can be made quickly and
less expensively.
- Has either digitized, or is in the process of digitizing, more
than 90 percent of HFC-produced maps, out of an inventory of approximately
550 maps.
- Maintains 85 handbooks, posters, and charts available for sale
through the U.S. Government Printing Office or by official National
Park Cooperating Associations.
- Provides new texts and maps in a digital format that can be
modified for use in other National Park Service projects.
- Provides advice and assistance to parks on producing maps, site
bulletins, administrative publications, and miscellaneous one-time
or special use projects.
