EMBASSY HOSTS MUSICAL TOUR “BORDER CROSSINGS”
May 16-18, 2006
Marian Liebowitz, clarinetist, and pianist Richard Thompson conducted a brief concert tour and master classes in Buenos Aires and La Plata from May 16 thru 18, 2006 under the sponsorship of the United States Embassy in Buenos Aires. Marian Liebowitz gave a Master Class in “How to Plan a Career in Music” at the Scala de San Telmo in Buenos Aires for young artists, coordinated by Argentine composer Omar Cyrulnik, followed by a concert. During the concert "Cruzando Fronteras/Border Crossings" the duo Liebowitz/Thompson performed works by Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Guastavino, Vinicio Meza, Josep M. Ruera, Osvaldo Lacerda, Enrique Salazar, Paquito D’Rivera and Ernesto LeCuona. In La Plata they performed at the renowned Teatro Argentino de la Plata - Sala Astor Piazolla - and they also offered master classes at the La Plata Fine Arts Conservatory.
