ANNOUNCEMENTS

* The FDDI concentrator in Building 26 will be shut down on Tuesday,
August 21 at 1 pm, for less than an hour. All FDDI machines in the
150.144.30 subnet will be affected. This includes all of the filers
and umbra, as well as any user machines using FDDI.
* Fire evacuation training will be Wednesday 22 August at 10:30am
in the EOF. There will be a short training session followed by
a walk-through of an evacuation route to be used in case the
primary route is blocked. If you work in the EOF area at any
time during the year, please make an effort to attend.
* SPWG is on Friday at 2 p.m. in the EAF. Please be sure to get
calendar changes to the SOCs as soon as possible.

INSTRUMENT STATUS

CDS: Nominal. AR study in southeast from 9-15 UT, BBSO QS study from
15:30-18 UT, GIS dumps from 18-02 UT. Tomorrow: synoptics from
02-08:30 UT, AR study in southeast from 9-14 UT, BBSO QS study
from 16-23 UT, GIS dumps from 23-04 UT, then synoptics. GIS raw
dumps will take precedence whenever NRT is available.
SUMER: Full sun scattered HeI 584A observations until 14 UT, then TR
events in OVI and Ly-B from 19 to 24 UT. Tomorrow: Full sun
scattered Ly-A observations from 00-08:30 UT, full sun scattered
Ly-B observations from 08:30-17:30 UT, and Alpha Leo observations
at 19 UT into Thursday.
UVCS: Nominal. Polar streamer and CME observations and mini-synoptics
for today and tomorrow.
LASCO: Nominal. C2/C3 synoptics, C3 comets in colors observations.
EIT: Nominal. 195 CME watch at half res and synoptics four times
a day at full res.
MDI: Nominal. Full disk dopplergrams and magnetograms.
TRACE: Nominal. In the morning TRACE is looking at an AR in the SE, then
a prominence study, and then two different quiet Sun studies, the
first with CDS and the second with SUMER. Tomorrow's plans TBD.
