Transportation & Relocation Services - Domestic Express Small Package Shipping

Small packages on hand cartCurrent Domestic Small Package Delivery Services are provided to VA Facilities by use of a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) agreement off of the Federal Supply Schedule.   Shippers must establish accounts for EXPRESS and GROUND delivery services with their local representatives.  Electronic billing is required but paper invoices can also be provided.  Domestic small package shipments require single packages to weigh 150 pounds or less to qualify for transportation with VA's contract carriers.  Express package deliveries within about 800 miles will most likely be transported on a truck.  Ground delivery within 800 miles will very frequently arrive at the same time as an Express shipment.  Small package shipments of multiple packages that exceed 300 pounds to one destination may be less costly to transport as a single freight shipment with a delivery schedule nearly the same as for small package shipments.  Proper shipment planning will reduce shipment costs.  When you must ship small packages the VA contracts are the mandatory source for carrier selections for all VA activities as directed in VA Directive 7179, dated July 2, 2007 Adobe Acrobat PDF Document hyperlink opens in a new browser window.
