Belt buckles pack too big a punch
They came in boxes marked as “Heavy duty belt buckles,” but to CBP officers in Orlando, Fla, they seemed to be too big and heavy to be belt buckles. In fact, they seemed perfect as brass knuckles.

Under Florida law it is a misdemeanor to possess of sell brass knuckles, so the shipment was turned over to Orlando police in mid-April. The police plan to destroy them.

“I wouldn’t call them belt buckles,” Orlando Detective Roberto Tello told the Orlando Sentinel. “What they’re trying to do is circumvent the law by calling them belt buckles.”

There were 14,000 “buckles” in all and authorities speculated that they were destined for flea markets or military supply stores.

Agents stop man from jumping off bridge
A Border Patrol Marine Interdiction Unit was crossing under the Coronado California Bay Bridge early morning on April 9 when they spotted a car stop and a man walk away from the car.

The agents approach the man who appeared to be upset. He handed the agents the cell phone he was talking on and said he was going to jump.

The agents were able to engage the man in conversation and comforted him until the California Highway Safety Patrol arrived. The local police transported the man to a county mental health facility. EB
