SCOTT MARCUS NAMED SENIOR ADVISOR FOR INTERNET TECHNOLOGY Washington, DC J. Scott Marcus has been named Senior Advisor for Internet Technology. Before joining the FCC, Marcus served as Chief Technology Officer for Genuity, a major Internet backbone and web hosting provider. FCC Chairman Michael Powell said, "The Commission is fortunate that Scott Marcus will provide us with his exceptional technical expertise and leadership as we assess the Internet's impact on the communications industry." Marcus received his B.A. in Political Science, with a specialization in Public Administration, from the City College of New York. He received an M.A. from the School of Engineering of Columbia University. His research interests include the economics and public policy implications of internet backbone interconnection, the measurement and prediction of Internet usage, the management and operation of data networks, and general data network design. Marcus is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN), and an officer and active conference organizer for the Communications Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
