Subject: ISBI Call for Papers FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS: ISBI'04 ------------------------------ 2004 IEEE International Symposium on BIOMEDICAL IMAGING FROM NANO TO MACRO CONFERENCE WEBSITE: http://www.biomedicalimaging.org/ We invite you to participate in the Second IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging, April 15-18 2004, at the Marriott Crystal Gateway, Arlington, Virginia. Sponsored by the IEEE Signal Processing and Engineering in Medicine and Biology Societies in cooperation with the new NIH National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. The inaugural ISBI meeting was held in July 2002. With over 500 attendees, this highly successful meeting featured opening addresses from Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of National Institutes of Health, and Roderic I. Pettigrew, Director of the new National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). The 2nd ISBI meeting will again be held in the Washington D.C. area in spring of 2004. ISBI is a forum for researchers involved in the mathematical, algorithmic and computational aspects of biomedical imaging from the nano, molecular, and cellular levels through macroscopic and whole-body clinical systems. We welcome contributions dealing with physical, biological and statistical modeling, image formation and reconstruction, computational image analysis, statistical image analysis, visualization, and image quality assessment. Modalities of interest include electron, confocal and multiphoton microscopy, optical and flourescent imaging and spectroscopy systems, autoradiography and in situ hybridization, X-ray and nuclear tomography, anatomical and functional MRI, ultrasound, magneto and electroencephalography, and small animal imaging systems. Imaging applications of interest include gene expression mapping, drug discovery and delivery, molecular imaging, functional brain mapping, computational neuroanatomy, cardiac imaging and cancer imaging. The meeting aims to facilitate cross-fertilization between different imaging modalities and an integrative approach to biomedical imaging across scales. The meeting will feature plenary talks and special sessions, as well as contributed oral and poster sessions. We will also have a strong pedagogical component with an opening morning of tutorials and short courses. Please bookmark and check the website (http://www.biomedicalimaging.org/) for updated information on topics, shortcourses, travel awards and registration. We look forward to seeing you in the spring of 2004! Richard M. Leahy and Christian Roux, Symposium Chairs IMPORTANT DATES ---------------- Submission of 4 page papers: November 15, 2003 Notification of acceptance/rejectioN: January 15, 2004 Submission of final accepted 4 page paper: February 15, 2004 Deadline for Pre-registration: February 15, 2004
