Reminder to Carriers

(11/01/2005)
Standard Carrier Alpha Codes (SCAC) renewal reminder

Please be advised that it is approaching the time of year (June) during which all SCAC are up for renewal. The National Motor Freight Traffic Association ( NMFTA ) has started sending out renewal notices. If you have not already done so, you must renew your SCAC for the year to avoid disruptions and/or having the SCAC reassigned to another company.

The preferred way for carriers to renew their SCAC is through the NMFTA Web site ( NMFTA ) using the NMFTA EasyPay System. Alternatively, the NMFTA can be contacted directly at (703) 838-1810. Once the carrier receives its confirmation letter, a copy should be sent to CBP via fax or mail. An electronic copy can also be sent as a TIF or PDF file attachment to an e-mail. Address and e-mail information is as follows:

CBP SCAC Processing
Bureau of Customs and Border Protection
7681 Boston Blvd., Beauregard 1st Fl Wing A
Springfield, VA 22153

FAX: (703) 650-3650

EMAIL: AMS.SCAC@DHS.GOV

ABI filers can assist in the renewal effort by contacting their carriers to remind them of the annual renewal period. The SCACs of carriers that have not been renewed will be eligible for reassignment.
