Green Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, USA The Scripps Orbit and Permanent Array Center (SOPAC) collects, archives, analyzes, and disseminates data and data products from various continuously operated GPS arrays. To better facilitate the large quantities of data, SOPAC has increased it's archiving capacity and implemented an Oracle 8i Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). This has resulted in the on-line availability of 1.75 Terra Bytes of continuous GPS data as far back as 1990. FTP data transfer from SOPAC's GARNER archive has increased dramatically over the last year due to these developments and has resulted in approximately 400,000 datafile transfers each month. The powerful features of the RDBMS are currently integrated into SOPAC's archiving and processing operations. Web based applications have been developed that utilize this system in order to improve the functionality and user friendliness of the SOPAC web-interface.
