Arizona, California Data Capture Centers to Process Census 2000 Spanish
Language Questionnaires -- The Census Bureau's Pomona, Calif., and
Phoenix, Ariz., data capture centers will process Census 2000
Spanish-language forms from Puerto Rico and stateside. (English and

Survey Measures Customer Satisfaction with Census Bureau -- The Census
Bureau was one of 30 high-impact government agencies surveyed by the
American Customer Service Index Survey last summer, and the results will
soon be released by the National Partnership for Reinventing Government.

Metropolitan Area and Central City Population Trends: 1990 to 1998 --
Shows population trends between 1990 and 1998 in metropolitan and
nonmetropolitan areas, as well as inside and outside central cities.

Census Bureau Facts for Features: A Century of Change - America,
1900-1999 -- Statistical information from the Census Bureau's
demographic and economic subject areas on the 20th century. Similar Facts
for Features commemorate events and holidays throughout the year.

1999 Statistical Abstract of the United States -- The 119th edition
of the federal government's perennial best seller has 1,700 tables and
graphs, including new tables on America's people and economy in the 20th
century. (Tentatively scheduled for release in two weeks.)

National Population Projections: 1999-2100 -- Population projections by
age, sex, race, Hispanic origin and nativity for the next 100 years.
Included with the data sets is a working paper on the methods used to
develop the projections. (Tentatively scheduled for release in three weeks.)

Educational Attainment Data for Metro Areas -- 1995-1998 data for 36 of
the nation's most populous metro areas, showing percentages of adults with
at least a high school diploma and a bachelor's degree or more,
cross-tabulated by various demographic characteristics. (Tentatively
scheduled for release in three weeks.)

1999 Population Estimates for U.S. Insular Areas -- Current and
historical estimates for Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth
of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa. (Tentatively scheduled

Financing the Future: Postsecondary Students, Costs and Financial Aid:
1993 - 1994 -- A look at postsecondary school financing, characteristics
of students and avenues of financing for postsecondary education.

State Population Estimates: July 1, 1999 -- Latest population estimates

Census Bureau Releases Population Estimate for Puerto Rico -- Total

American Housing Survey for Selected Metropolitan Areas in 1998 --
Data on size and composition of the housing inventory, housing costs and
housing and neighborhood quality for Baltimore, Boston, Houston,
Minneapolis, Oakland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Tampa-St. Petersburg,
San Jose, Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, Norfolk, Birmingham, Rochester and

Bayesian Hierarchical Modeling of U.S. County Poverty Rates -- This  
technical paper discusses research on a potential model for estimating

Profiles of Poor Counties: Some Empirical Evidence -- This technical
paper describes the relationship of selected demographic and labor force

goods by value, weight, average miles per shipment, mode of transportation
and type of commodity shipped. For the first time, the survey also provides

1998 Transportation Annual Survey -- Latest national statistics on
changes in revenues and expenses for the nation's trucking and warehousing

1998 Annual Survey of State and Local Employee-Retirement Systems --
Covers 2,140 public employee retirement systems for the United States and

                         For Broadcasters
Radio

The "Profile America" CD for December is now available. This series of
60-second features, one for each weekday of the month, is now heard on
more than 500 stations across the country. Each feature is keyed to an
event whose anniversary or observance is celebrated on the air date.
Besides holiday subjects, December's features will cover such topics as
Bill of Rights Day, the Louisiana Purchase, children's books and the
invention of cough drops.

A companion program, "Al Dia," is produced for Spanish-language stations.

An updated "Census 2000 B-Roll" is now available through the Public
Information Office. This reel features early Census 2000 activities:
Census in Schools, enumerators at work, form filling, form printing and
processing, plus new Census 2000 graphics.

This reel runs 14:40 minutes and is available at no cost in Betacam SP and
