This component of COAST provides access to
monitoring results and environmental indicators to help users review
changes in water quality and evaluate progress toward water-quality
objectives. The results from the CBP monitoring networks in the
watershed and estuary and existing CBP environmental indicators
are utilized in COAST version 1.0. Users will need to utilize additional
monitoring results to assess changes in local areas.
Decision process for monitoring change and assessing
progress:
- Implement an evaluation program to monitor and assess implementation of actions and water-quality change.
- Review CBP information and approach to help with assessments in local areas:
- Develop dashboards and associated environmental indicators to assess progress for implementing actions and improving water quality in selected area.
- Use monitoring information and indicators to assess progress toward implementation of management practices and water-quality change in geographic area of interest.
- Assess how local efforts relate to basin-wide assessment of water-quality practices and conditions in the watershed and the bay.
- Review indicators for the entire watershed and estuary related to water quality:
- Implementing action to reduce nutrients.
- Water quality in the watershed.
- Loads to the Bay.
- Estuary water quality.
- Review CBP nontidal and tidal monitoring
results.
- Go to “Evaluate changes to adjust actions” component of COAST.
