LEA Aerobics Club - The LEA Aerobics Club offers classes for all levels of fitness. Classes are held at NASA Langley's gymnasium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.  The Club supplies all equipment such as barbells, dumbbells, steps, exertubes, mats, etc.  Classes range from weight/strength training to step aerobics to high-energy kickboxing.  Each class is $2 and there is no start-up membership fee.  Langley civil servants, contractors, and family members are welcome.  Call Kim Tatum at 4-8454 or email her at k.r.tatum@larc.nasa.gov for the latest class schedule. Basketball League - The LEA Basketball Association operates a recreational league beginning in December and ending in March. Approximately 15 teams are divided into 3 leagues (A,B,C) so each team will have a regular season schedule of 12 to 15 games. The games are played Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and on Saturday with teams averaging 3 games every 2 weeks. Following the regular season, each league has a tournament to determine league champion. Call Brian Killough (47047) for more information. Bowling League - The first meeting of the bowling league usually takes place in August to discuss upcoming league, new members, new teams, constitution/by laws changes and any other new/old information to pass along to members. The season usually starts in September and ends in April/May. The league, as of this printing, bowls at the AMF of York bowling center in Grafton, VA. The league bowls on Tuesday's, beginning at 6:00pm. Costs are $12 per person per night for 3 games. Each team consists of (4) people, this is a mixed league (men and women). The ABC dues for men are $11.50 and WBIC fees for women are $11.50, these dues/amounts may change each year. The cost of $12.00 per person included lanes fees, league secretaries fee, banquet fees, and prizes. Rodney Russell, ext. 4-3573 or Alan Frizzell, ext. 4-5413


Golf Association - The NASA Golf Association is open to all active and retired NASA personnel. Dues per year are $30.00. Generally, there are two meetings per year. The first occurs in the early spring to announce the upcoming year of tournaments/events and the other in late fall for the annual golf banquet. Approximate cost (with an average of 70-75 participants) to play in all tournaments (10-13 per year) is $400.00 - $450.00. Paul Daspit ext. 4-5481.

Karate Club - The Langley Karate club provides year round instruction in Cuong Nhu Oriental Martial Arts, a style which incorporates principles from Shotokan, Judo, Aikido, Wing Chun, TaiChi, Vovinam, and Boxing. Instruction is available from beginner through degrees of black belt. Classes are open to children 8 years and older and adults. The club meets Mondays & Wednesdays in the gym from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Cost is $35.00 for yearly national membership. Family membership rates are available. Soccer Club - The Langley Soccer club operates pick-up games throughout the year. The Soccer club has two seasons. The indoor season starts mid-November through mid-March in the NASA gym, and outdoor season is for the rest of the year in front of NASA Library. All games are coed and all levels are welcome. Softball League - The LEA has a slow pitch softball league that generally begins in mid March and continues through the first part of August. The games are played after work on the fields on Center. LaRC Tennis Club - The NASA LaRC Tennis Club is open to all NASA Langley civil servants, contractor personnel and their immediate family (age 15 and older) and costs only $12/yr.  During the season we have free lessons and clinics for those who  want to improve their games.  Picnics, leagues and tournaments are also planned for folks who want to get together and play in a good mix of formats.  We have a diverse group of folks with varied experience and all skill levels are welcome. Volleyball League - The volleyball league has a spring, summer and fall season each year. Each season lasts 10 to 12 weeks and consists of leagues for various skill levels. For spring and fall, games are played in the gym on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. For summer, games are played outdoors Monday through Thursday. Teams generally play one match per week with each match approximately one hour. The club also has year round open play every Friday night from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and Sunday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
