Prenanthes virgata, Pursh, p. 498. There are a number of species of this genus which have fallen under my observation, not distinctly established. The leaves are, however, so variable, that it would be highly improper to establish new ones from single specimens, especially when destitute of radical leaves. The present plant has certainly not occurred to me with exactly this form of cauline leaves, but in other respects it perfectly resembles the P. virgata of Pursh. 79. Lactuca integrifolia? Nutt. Gen. II. p. 124.
