QUESTION: What was the longest time you sat and watched the satellite? ANSWER from Lynn Foster Baassford on May 28, 1996: Normally, a Flight Controller's shift is 8 to 12 hrs long. Our primary duty is to the spacecraft; therefore, we have to stay until a relief can be found. My longest shift watching the satellite was 19 hrs one day during my first year at HST. My longest time spent at work was in January of this year when a snow blizzard hit the East Coast. I stayed at work for 3 days straight without a bed or shower. I took turns with another Shift Supervisor watching the satellite (& our crews).
