Project Description My project will involve using data collected on students who have already dropped out of school and have found themselves back in school to identify potential-dropouts in an experimental high school who will receive a counseling strategies to determine its effects. In this project, I will give a survey online to three racially/ethnically different schools to gather information on these students who have dropped out of high school and have returned. This information will be used when gathering information on the experimental high school students to determine if any students fall in the potential-dropout category. The experimental high school students will will receive a pre and post online survey. This survey will be analyzed and used to determine the experimental treatment . The counseling strategies will include peer, group, personal and career counseling. I will make links to dropout prevention resources on the web also. At the end of the counseling strategy period, a post assessment will be submitted online by the students engaged in the counseling strategies. I will use this project because IÕm involved in a Block schedule program for sophmore students in high school. It is an urban high school. My job is to teach 2 classes per day in biology/chemistry and devote a period and a half to Guidance/advisary. The gold of the academy is to offer the students more support in guidance. The school enrollement is low, graduation rate is low and many students leave school early or dropout before graduation for various reasons. The goal is not to keep students in school but help them make good sound life choices/goals. Students at my school is the Experimental group. I will ask the experimental group to help design the qustionnaires from a sample form. Information will be exchanged between the experimental group and the group of dropouts. Assessment will be ongoing. Minnie L. Robinson MRobin9267@aol.com
