Description/Abstract | The idea that an electronic wave function might be adequately approximated by an antisymmetrized product of a core with a valence wave function is discussed as a special case of the separability hypothesis.A natural function analysis of localized wave functions is proposed as a criterion for separability.A generalization of Brillouin's theorem is shown to be a consequence of the effective core and valence Hamiltonians which are proposed.(auth) |
