The Calais Station area of responsibility (AOR) presently covers 68.2 miles of international border with Canada and approximately 196.6 statute miles of coastline, covering a total of 5,316.3 square miles. The AOR stretches from Vanceboro, Maine in the north to the mouth of the Penobscot River at Bucksport in the south. The terrain is heavily forested with swamps and hills. The coastline is jagged with up to 28-foot tide changes.

Calais Station is a new facility and was built to accommodate 50 Border Patrol Agents. Calais agents moved into the new facility in November 2006.
