I have experience analyzing Yohkoh SXT, HXT, and BCS data. Being at ISAS I can provide any Yohkoh data others might be interested in. If anybody is interested I can provide BCS data for any (or all) events. With the BCS data we can get reliable diagnostic information on the flares, such as T, EM, nonthermal broadening (possibly indicative of turbulence), blue-shifts. I have checked some of the events and some show blue-shifts, large line broadenings, and very high temperatures (including FeXXVI emission). Also I have done some work on the 27-Nov-97 event. A paper is about to be submitted to A&A Lett. by Klein, Khan, Vilmer, Delouis, Aurass comparing Nancay and SXT data. I would like to do further work on that event including other data sets. Timing analysis of the velocity dispersion of solar events observed at 1 AU provides information on the solar origin and on the related solar events of the observed particles. Remote sensing observations (SoHO/EIT, Yohkoh/SXT, WIND/WAVES, spectral radio observations (PHOENIX II, etc.)) can then be used to identify the related solar events. I will provide timing analysis of electron events (1 keV-300 keV) observed by the WIND/3DP instruments. The accuracy of the determined solar release times are about one minute for the strongest events, but might be around 5 minutes for weaker events. The WIND/3DP instruments also allow to study pitch angle distributions, energy spectra, and distribution functions. Additionally, we have a collaboration with Joe Mazur (ACE/ULEIS) investigating the same set of observations as proposed for this workshop. This contribution will fit best in the working group 4 (sources of energetic particles). ____________________________________________ From oracle@orpheus.nascom.nasa.gov Tue Feb 2 23:09:21 1999 Date: Tue, 2 Feb 1999 23:04:34 -0500 To: gopals@fugee.gsfc.nasa.gov, rpl@leprpl1.gsfc.nasa.gov From: rpl@leprpl1.gsfc.nasa.gov Subject: ISTP/IACG Registration Content-Length: 1265 Submitted by ISTP/IACG (Workshop Participant) on Tue Feb 2 23:04:33 EST 1999 --------------------------------------------------------- First_name: Ronald ____________________________________________ Last_Name: Lepping ____________________________________________ Organization: NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center ____________________________________________ Mailing_address: NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center Code 696 Greenbelt, MD 20771 ____________________________________________ Phone: 301-286-5413 ____________________________________________ Email: rpl@leprpl.gsfc.nasa.gov ____________________________________________ Group: 5 ____________________________________________ Narrative: Data sets that will be provided: As well as the medium-scale key parameters (around 1 min avgs) from WIND MFI and IMP 8 MAG, we will provide 3-s avgs of WIND MFI, and if necessary, at a later time, even faster MFI data. The compression appears as a dimming in Ly alpha, extremely broad wings on the O VI lines, and a doubling of intensity in Si XII. We hope to interpret these in terms of the shock speed, electron-ion and ion-ion equilibration in the shock for comparison with shock paramters derived from other sets of observations.
