Patrick M. Knupp

Distinguished Member Technical Staff
Optimization and Uncertainty Estimation Dept.

[Sandia National Laboratories]

Research Interests

My primary research interest is applied and computational mathematics, with emphasis on accurate, robust, and fast numerical algorithms. My specialties are Mesh Generation & Optimization, Verification & Validation (V & V), and numerical subsurface flow. I'm co-author (with S. Steinberg) of the textbook "The Fundamentals of Grid Generation.", CRC Press. I'm a member of the Mesquite mesh optimization team. You can get free downloads of Mesquite here. I am also the co-author (with K. Salari) of a book on code verification "Verification of Computer Codes in Computational Science and Engineering," Chapman and Hall/CRC Press, 2003. I have also written a code (MWT3D) that directly simulates water-table motion by solving the kinematic boundary condition.
