A concert to mark Daniel Pearl World Music Days was held October 19 at the Musica Sacra festival, organized by organist Stano Surin in Skalica. The Embassy's Political Counselor Susan M. Ball gave remarks at the concert, sponsored in part by the Embassy. She recalled her personal acquaintance with Pearl, when he was a young journalist in Washington, DC. The Daniel Pearl Music Days are worldwide annual events held in honor of American journalist Daniel Pearl, killed in Pakistan January 30, 2002. The theme of the occasion is "Harmony for Humanity." This year's events, concerts large and small in countries around the world, were held in early October.
