This is a lightweight, hand held, battery powered instrument used to obtain inflight hematocrit readings. It requires less than one drop of blood per determination and the hematocrit is read directly from the percentage scale on the rotor. The centrifugation duration is 3 minutes, 20 seconds at 11,500 rpm. The unit stops automatically at the end of the centrifugation cycle. Hematocrit values are read 3 minutes later. It can process 6 hematocrit tubes at one time (9 microliters of blood).
