Description/Abstract The problem of following the apparent equatorial motion of the sun in the case of solar-energy systems with equatorial mounting and clock-controlled mechanism is discussed.^The effect of atmospheric refraction and variations in the length of the solar day on the angular velocity of the apparent equatorial motion of the sun are determined.^Mathematical and graphical results are obtained for the tracking parameters as functions of natural factors, and certain general conclusions are established.
