Description/Abstract Bimodal pore system reservoirs present difficult evaluation problems.^A hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir, containing both intragranular microporosity and intergranular megaporosity, will result in high calculated Archie water saturations, regardless of true water saturations.^These inaccurate calculations occur because of bound water in the intragranular microporosity.^This condition contributes to electrical conductivity measured by petrophysical logs, but, because the water is immovable, does not affect a reservoir`s actual fluid conductivity.^Therefore, the microporosity is not effective, and the only effective porosity is the reservoirs intergranular megaporosity.^This paper proposes a method for determining true water saturation and effective porosity in bimodal reservoirs, using a BASIC computer program, MICRO.BAS.^It suggests that, if one porosity type in a bimodal reservoir can be delineated and its water saturation properly identified, the other can be deduced, and the reservoir`s actual effective porosity and true water saturation determined.^MICRO.BAS is designed to do the necessary calculations on limestones, dolomites, or cherts with microporosity.
