ISCCP C2 HDF Read Program The program rdc2hdf.c and rdc2hdf.f (C and Fortran Versions) allow the user to dump data to an ASCII file for a choosen year and month. You can further subset the data by choosing the cell number. The data is stored in EQUAL AREA grid. Data for each parameter is stored as 1 x 6596, hence the option to choose the cell number ranges between 1 and 6596. Cell number 1 is at the South Pole. If no subsetting is requested all 6596 data for the selected parameter are retrieved from HDF file and the read program applies the appropriate conversion table and the values are printed to an ASCII output file. Future versions will allow for subsetting by latitude and longitude ranges. A menu for available parameters allows for the selection of particular data(e.g., VAR = 11 GMT=0 MEAN PC FOR CLOUDY PIXELS,etc). The name of the file is: c2_3hrlymon_yymm* * yymm-The year and month the data was acquired.(e.g. 9001) The program also builds an output file: HDF_filename.rpt In order to run the read software, you will need to obtain the HDF libraries which are available in the public domain from the National Center for Super computing Applications (NCSA) via ftp (ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu or 128.174.20.50). Further information on obtaining the HDF libraries can be found in Langley DAAC Handbook, February 1993.
