No trace of the Montserrat volcano plume in any of the remotely sensed data (satellite, LIDAR, sun-photometer) 3. Ship arrived near Sagres at 1200. Will leave for a position up-wind of Sagres for coordinated measurements. (LIDARs, nucleation studies) 4. no HILLCLOUD tonight 5. ADEOS knocked out of operation by space debris. Tuesday 6. Citation makes morning flight to hunt Montserrat volcano plume. If found second flight in the afternoon. Coordination with IZO/TNS LIDARs 7. Clear COLUMN flight by Pelican 8. Coordinated Merlin/Pelican legs for PCASP/CPC intercomparisons MRF PCASP on Merlin. 9. Ship to do coordinated measurements with Sagres till the evening, and wait for notice from ST meeting. Wednesday/Thursday 10. Re-establishment of High over the Azores. Conditions expected to be OK for full LAGRANGIAN on Thursday, unknown whether it'll be clean or polluted. General: - IZO, PDH and Ciatation will analyze their SO2 (and DMS?) data so far, to check the feasibility of an A/C SO2 intercomparison. - C130 and Pelican radiometer data will be analyzed before a possible 2 A/C radiation study over the ship - Lynn Russell is preparing, for one of the next meetings, a short presentation on entrainment and aerosol dynamics.
