Towering Cumulus Clouds
When the air becomes unstable, strong convection currents can cause cumulus
cloud tops to grow and billow upward beyond the range of the low clouds into
the middle cloud altitudes. These clouds are also known as "cumulus congestus".
Other vertically advanced clouds include nimbostratus
and cumulonimbus clouds.
