Description: This vegetation map of South America has been produced using multi-sensor satellite observations at a spatial resolution of 1 km. The map highlights the major vegetation formations throughout the continent with an improved thematic content over previous land cover maps, identifying over 40 land cover classes. The majority of the data used were acquired in the year 2000 giving an unprecedented up-to-date overview of the continent’s land cover.
