ORO CELEBRATES 2004 HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH | |
Oak Ridge Offices Manager Gerald Boyd spoke at the kickoff
breakfast for Hispanic Heritage Month. “It was my distinct pleasure to be involved in the kickoff breakfast recognizing the celebration of Hispanic Americans in our communities and workforce,” said Gerald Boyd, Manager of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge Offices (DOE). “Oak Ridge Operations continues to support the Hispanic Employment program, and all diversity programs. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to attend the upcoming activities between now and October 15.” “This year’s theme, ‘Hispanic Americans, Making a Difference in Our Communities and Our Nation,’ reflects the great achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans to our society,” said Leon Duquella, Special Emphasis Program Manager for the Hispanic employment program at ORO. “ORO continues to recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to this organization and to the community. I’m proud to represent such a dynamic group of people.” As part of the annual celebration period, which continues through October 15, several activities are planned. Hispanic Heritage Luncheon (sponsored by DOE/ORO) In addition to these events, several others are being held at The University of Tennessee (UT). On October 7, Ballet Hispánico will be held at the Clarence Brown Theatre at 7:30 p.m., and the Blessing of the Flags will be held on October 13 at 4:30 p.m. at the Black Cultural Center at UT.
