1. Owners of Olympic Swimming Center Seek Management and Engineering Expertise
(Source: Beijing State-Owned Asset Management Co. Ltd. (SAM), April 9, 2003)

The Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co. Ltd. (SAM) is the official owner of the future Olympic Swimming Center in the Beijing Olympic Green and is currently looking for suitable foreign companies to participate in the operation and detailed engineering design.

SAM is looking for the following:

1. Operator for the Swimming Center - VERY URGENT

The Pre-qualification Tender that closed on 5 January 2003 did not produce the required number of suitable candidates. SAM now plans a new tender by invitation.

The operator should have a proven experience in operating and maintaining a large swimming center, with or without other aquatic activities. Experience with Olympic installations (i.e. used or planned for Olympic Games) is preferred, combined with health club facilities. The operator is to help in the design parameters of the Beijing Swimming Center.

Potential candidates should contact SAM immediately and submit a brief overview of their references and specific experience.

SAM is planning a trip to Europe in May and could meet with the candidates.

2. Detailed engineering design for the Swimming Center - URGENT

SAM wants to contact candidates in view of a tender for the detailed design and other aspects of the Swimming Center. Candidates should have proven experience in all engineering aspects such as: electro-mechanical equipment, air conditioning, water treatment, civil engineering, etc. The companies could also assist SAM for the tendering process of the equipment, installation and relevant services.

3. Equipment suppliers

In principle SAM will only have direct contact with equipment suppliers on a case by case basis. Companies coming forward will mostly be requested to provide two sets of brochures.
