Back to In Their Own Words
2nd Day of Infamy
It was only our second week in indoc. and our instructor had just given us a reading assignment when one of our classmates yelled out, "Oh My God", as he pushed himself away from the desk and ran out the door. After trying to call home with no results he returned to the classroom and said that two airplanes had collided into the twin towers, his concern was that his cousin worked in one of those towers. To try to keep us busy, the instructor told us to keep reading, but all I was doing was reading words because nothing was sinking in. We were given a break to watch the events as they unfolded. It was a day that will stay in my mind and in the mind of all American citizens forever.

After several minutes, we were told to leave the academy.
