Florida Keys Groundwater Seepage & Flow Data

Data are available as Excel® Spreadsheets (.xls)

Please note: Spreadsheets below contain multiple worksheets. Click on tabs to access different worksheets within the spreadsheet.

  • Groundwater Seepage - contains information and data collected during the seepage meter (groundwater seepage) experiments along the Florida Keys on both the Florida Bay and Atlantic Ocean sides.
    • The spreadsheet contains several worksheets. Location information about seepage meter sites is located within the 'Location' worksheet that contains latitude and longitude, site name, and seepage meter number. Results from the seepage meter experiments can be found within the 'Field Results' worksheet. This worksheet contains the seepage meter number, site and values of seepage flux (volume per area per time).

  • Nutrient Results of Ground and Surface Waters at the Bayside Well Cluster study site - contains the nutrient results from the collection of both ground and surface water samples. The nutrients concentrations represent variations between ground and surface waters at the Bayside Well Cluster (BSWC) study site.
    • Chemistry was conducted on water from wells and surface at bayside well cluster. Data presented in the spreadsheet are for both the deep (A) and shallow (B) wells. The worksheet titled 'BSWC-2A' contains various nutrient data for the deep (A; 40ft) well and worksheet 'BSWC-2B' contains nutrient data for the shallow (B; 20ft) well. Nutrient concentrations are presented in both milligrams per liter (mg/L) and micromolar (uM).

  • Groundwater Flow Rates at the Bayside Well Cluster study site - As part of the groundwater flow study in the Florida Keys, several wells at two different depths were installed in a circular pattern on the bayside of the Key Largo. This well cluster (BSWC) was the site for a tracer study that utilized two types of fluorescent dyes: Rhodamine (red) and Fluorescein (green-yellow).
    • Collection of water samples (ground and surface) at closely spaced intervals (each week) were implemented to capture fluorescent dyes that were injected in the center wells within the well cluster on the bayside of Key Largo. These sampling intervals were close enough to come up with calculated flow rates and direction based on detection of dyes in the wells. Two worksheets within this file contain data for the two different tracers used in the Groundwater Flow experiments: Rhodamine dyes (red; injected in the deep well) and Fluroescein dye (yellow-green; injected in the shallow well). 'BSWC_Rhod' contains data on the Rhodamine results at the bayside well cluster and 'BSWC_Fluor' contains data on the Fluroescein results. All samples were run on a filter fluorometer (Turner Design).

  • Groundwater Flow Rates at the Oceanside Well Cluster study site - As part of the groundwater flow study in the Florida Keys, several wells at two different depths were installed in a circular pattern on the oceanside of the Key Largo. This well cluster (OSWC) was the site for a tracer study that utilized two types of fluorescent dyes: Rhodamine (red) and Fluorescein (green-yellow).
    • Collection of water samples (ground and surface) at closely spaced intervals (each week) were implemented to capture fluorescent dyes that were injected in the center wells within the well cluster on the oceanside of Key Largo. The OSWC site is located across the key from the BSWC site, a distance of approximately 600m. 'OSWC_Rhod' contains data on the Rhodamine results at the bayside well cluster and 'OSWC_Fluor' contains data on the Fluroescein results. All samples were run on a filter fluorometer (Turner Design).
