While STEREO A continues outward, STEREO B doesn't have quite enough speed and curves back Earthward, receiving an extra boost from the Moon. This is the 'no date' version. 3364 STEREO's Routes to Solar Orbits
NASA's THEMIS mission has overturned a longstanding belief about the interaction between solar particles and Earth's protective magnetic field. This new discovery could help scientists predict when the solar storms that can disrupt power grids, satellites and even GPS signals, could be especially severe.
For more information: www.nasa.gov/themis

For complete transcript, click here. 10356 THEMIS Discovers Biggest Breach of Earth's Magnetosphere

Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 headed on different paths out of the Solar System toward interstellar space. Traveling at different speeds and in different directions, Voyager 1 encountered the termination shock at 94 astronomical units (AU) and Voyager 2 encountered it at only 84 AU. The result, as seen in this combination of an artist's concept and a researcher's model, is a somewhat 'squashed' picture of the solar system. 10181 Voyager 2 Proves Solar System is Squashed
