  • About the Artists
  • A superb chamber ensemble, comprised of leaders and first solo players from the major Italian orchestras and recent international competition winners.

I Solisti di Venezia came together in 1981 to continue the performance tradition of “I Virtuosi di Roma.” The fame of the individual musicians and the high standard of their performances have brought the ensemble, from their very first appearances, the most enthusiastic response.

I Solisti play the repertoire from the string sextet to the chamber orchestra without conductor and alternating all members as soloists and leaders. They have toured extensively with artists such as Kathleen Battle, Milan Turkovic, Michala Petri, Mstislav Rostropovich, Paul Badura-Skoda, Trevor Pinnock, and the Ensemble Wien-Berlin. In the US, they have performed in the major venues, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington.

I Solisti record mainly for Denon Nippon Columbia. The most recent releases include Grieg's complete works for string orchestra, a selection of rare film scores by Rota and Morricone, and a collection of unpublished 19th century Italian virtuoso pieces for strings.
