Greg Beischer

Greg Beischer

Mr. Beischer is a mineral exploration geologist with experience in mineral development in a number of jurisdictions across North America, including nine years in Alaska. In his current position with Bristol Environmental & Engineering Services Corporation, he liaisons with industry, state and federal government to market the resources of the Bristol Bay region. He’s a member and chair of several committees for the Alaska Miners Association, and member of the Alaska Minerals Commission. He holds a degree in geology from Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and is a Certified Professional Geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists.

Mr. Beischer has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2004.

 

Charlie Boddy


Charlie Boddy, RAC Vice-Chair

Mr. Boddy has been with Usibelli Coal Mine for more than 35 years, where he helped reinforce Usibelli’s reputation as a good corporate citizen in Alaska. Usibelli pioneered successful reclamation techniques years before required by federal law, making the company a leader in the U.S. coal industry. Mr. Boddy previously served on former Gov. Hickel’s Task Force on Regulatory Reform and most recently as one of Governor Palin's transition team leaders. He's currently active with the Alaska Coal Association as Secretary-Treasurer, the Alaska Miners Association, The National Mining Association and serves as a Trustee for teh Northwest Mining Association.

Mr. Boddy served on BLM’s Northern Advisory Council from 1989 until 1994 representing energy interests. He’s been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2001.

 

Tom Crafford
Mining Section Chief,
Alaska Department of Natural Resources (Anchorage)

Mr. Crafford has been a minerals industry geologist in Alaska since 1976. He is past president of the Alaska Miners Association (AMA), and currently serves as co-chair of AMA’s State Oversight Committee, working to balance the needs of both small miners and Alaska’s large mining corporations. He is vice president of the Alaska Minerals and Energy Resources Education Fund, working to educate Alaska’s youth (K-12) about the state’s minerals industry.

Mr. Crafford has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 1999.

 

Philip Driver

Philip Driver

Midnight Sun Adventures (Anchorage)

Mr. Driver is a master hunting guide, commercial pilot, and aircraft owner/operator with close to 40 years of experience in commercial recreational activities in northwest Alaska. He runs a recreational hunting and fishing lodge on the Wulik River. He is former chairperson of the Alaskan Guide Licensing and Control Board, and a longtime President of the Alaska Professional Hunters Association. Mr. Driver has been active with the Western Artic Caribou Herd Working Group since 1997 and is a founding member.

Mr. Driver has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2003.

 

 

Barbara Fullmer
Senior Counsel,
ConocoPhillips (Anchorage)

Ms. Fullmer, a longtime Alaska resident, currently works for ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc., providing in-house counsel for the Land and Exploration Departments. She also furnishes counsel to companies' Alaska pipeline affiliates. In the early 1980's Ms. Fullmer worked as an engineer in the Cook Inlet offshore oil and gas fields and on an offshore Beaufort Sea exploration site. As a private attorney, she has represented oil and gas, mining and logging entities in many parts of Alaska. During her position as Assistant Attorney General in the State of Alaska's Department of Natural Resources she represented the State's interests in hard rock, coal, and oil and gas matters.

In addition to professional interests, she has participated on the Advisory Board, School of Mineral Engineering, University of Alaska-Fairbanks; as a board member and officer of Hillcrest Children's Center; and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Armed Services YMCA-Alaska. Ms. Fullmer became a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council in October 2005.

 

 

Conservation, dispersed recreation, archaeological/historic interests

     

 

Scott Hala
Vice President,
Alaska Outdoor Access Alliance (Anchorage)

Interest Represented: Dispersed recreation
Current Term Expires: September 2008

Mr. Hala serves as the Vice President of the Alaska Outdoor Access Alliance. The Alliance, an organization dedicated to protecting access to public lands for all motorized and non-motorized groups for both recreational and commercial purposes. Hala has also held positions as President, Secretary and Treasurer with Alaska Extreme Fourwheelers, Inc., and continues to be the organization's webmaster and club speaker at community council and trail advocacy meetings. Hala is also a member of the Mat-Su Trails Council, Tread Lightly, Blue Ribbon Coalition and the United Four-wheel Drive Association.

Mr. Hala became a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council in October 2005.

 

Sandra Key

 

Sandra Key, RAC Chair

The Nature Conservancy (Anchorage)

Current Term Expires: September 2008

Ms. Key retired from The Nature Conservancy in 2003, yet she remains an active member, doing occasional contract work on special projects. Her career with the Conservancy followed a 31-year federal career with the Forest Service, National Park Service and Fish and Wildlife Service. Her last federal appointment was Associate Deputy for Programs and Legislation with the Forest Service. Prior to this, she was forest supervisor at two national forests and deputy superintendent at Glacier National Park. She holds a B.S. in ecology and math.

Ms. Key has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2001.

 

Suzanne McCarthy

Ms. McCarthy has owned and operated a wilderness rafting company in rural Alaska for 13 years. She operates under permits from eight entities, including BLM, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, and several Alaska Native organizations in the region. She also serves as education coordinator for the Copper Basin Campus of Prince William Sound Community College. Previously, she was a geologist with Ahtna Minerals Corp. She holds a B.S. in geology from Western Connecticut State University. She's active with the Alaska Wilderness Recreation and Tourism Association, the Alaska Geological Association, and the Copper Valley Economic Development Council.

Ms. McCarthy has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2003.

 

Susan Olsen

Ms. Olsen is a founding member and current treasurer of the Alaska Quiet Rights Coalition, a non-profit, tax-exempt, Alaska corporation with approximately 600 members/supporters throughout the state. The coalition believes natural quiet is a natural resource to be protected for backcountry recreationsists, cabin owners, businesses and wildlife, and works with land managers to promote "quiet" recreational values and opportunities on Alaska's public lands. She came to Alaska in 1982, as Chief Counsel for HUD, retiring in 1994. She also serves ont he board of the Alaska Women's Network.

Ms. Olsen has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 1999.

 

David van den Berg

David van den Berg

Northern Alaska Environmental Center (Fairbanks)

Mr. van den Berg came to Alaska in 1989 to help clean up oil from the Exxon Valdez spill.  He is the Executive Director of the Fairbanks-based Northern Alaska Environmental Center.  Founded in 1971, the center's mission is to conserve Alaska's wild lands and quality of life through resource protection and stewardship. He and his wife own the wilderness guiding company Arctic Wild, specializing in multi-day trips into Alaska's Brooks Range and across the Arctic slope.  He holds a B.A. in History from Furman University. 

Mr. van den Berg has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 1997.

 

Elected officials, Alaska Natives, Public-at-large

     

Teresa Imm
Director of Resource Development,
Arctic Slope Regional Corp. (Anchorage)

Current Term Expires: September 2009

Ms. Imm has been involved in North Slope resource management issues for more than 25 years, with a specific focus on Alaska Native resource issues for the past 17 years. She currently serves as Director of Resource Development for ASRC, where her expertise and community commitment bring a balanced perspective to sustainable development in the region. She holds a Masters in geology and serves on the board of the Resource Development Council with the North Slope Science Initiative Oversight Group.

Ms. Imm has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2003.

 

June McAtee

June McAtee
VP of Land & Natural Resources,
Calista Corp. (Anchorage)

Ms. McAtee is a land manager with 18 years resource-related experience in Alaska. In her current position with Calista Corp., she manages corporate subsurface resources, provides Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) land conveyance oversight, and helps establish Native land policy. She’s an effective liaison with industry, government and other ANCSA corporations. She’s a member of the Alaska Miners Association; the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration; and the Northwest Miners Association. She serves on the board of directors for The Nature Conservancy of Alaska. She holds a degree in geology from the University of Oregon.

Ms. McAtee has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2004.

 

Jim Posey

Jim Posey

Municipal Light and Power (Anchorage)

Mr. Posey was appointed General Manager of Municipal Light & Power in 2003. At the time, he was Director of Cultural and Recreational Services for the Municipality of Anchorage. He retired from ARCO in 1996 following a 21-year career in the energy industry. He was oil and gas attorney for the Worldwide Energy Corp. in Denver and then worked as land manager, senior landman, and government relations consultant for ARCO. He holds a J.D. from the University of Kansas.

Mr. Posey has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2001.

 

Keith Tryck

Current Term Expires: September 2009

Mr. Tryck is a lifelong Alaskan who is a consultant for community and economic development projects for rural clients around the state. He assists his clients in seeking funding and grant sources for projects that enhance the quality of life for rural residents in small communities throughout Alaska. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Alaska Water Resources Board, the Girdwood Board of Supervisors and Public Safety Board, and the Kenai Mountains Turnagain Arm National Heritage Corridor Communities Association. Mr. Tryck operates a gold mine near the community of Ruby, Alaska.

Mr. Tryck has been a member of the Alaska Resource Advisory Council since 2003.
