Abstract: Peptide mass mapping by enzymatic digestion has become a routine method for protein characterization and identification. However, enzymatic digestion is usually time consuming and the spectra are complicated by protease autolysis products. We have found chemical cleavage at aspartic acid a promising alternative to enzymatic digestion.
