Tree-ring Chronologies

A tree-ring chronology is a time-series of annual values derived from the ring-width measurements of 10 or more trees of the same species at a single site. Since 1999, we have developed over 75 drought-sensitive tree-ring chronologies from Colorado, New Mexico, and Nebraska, with more chronologies in progress. These chronologies form the basis for the new hydrologic reconstructions. About 20 of them are already archived in the International Tree-Ring Data Bank (ITRDB); the others will be archived over the next several years.

This map of Colorado and surrounding states shows the locations of the tree-ring chronologies used in this project and their 3-letter site codes.

To see selected metadata for each site, move the mouse cursor over the triangle representing that site, and hold it there. These metadata include site name, species code, start and end dates, and site elevation. Additional metadata are provided in the table below the map.

If the metadata tag shows an asterisk (*) before the site code, then data for that site is available through the ITRDB. To access the data for that site, click on the triangle.
