April 6, 2005 Melissa Mathews/Erica Hupp Headquarters, Washington (Phone: 202/358-1272/1237) MEDIA ADVISORY: M05-055 WEB SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR UPCOMING SPACE SHUTTLE MISSIONS NASA has a sponsorship opportunity for companies to place their corporate identity on NASA's popular Web site for two of its highest-profile missions this year. In return, this partnership would provide NASA increased Internet capabilities during events related to the upcoming Space Shuttle missions of Discovery (STS-114) and Atlantis (STS-121). NASA is expecting 20 to 30 million visits to its Web site during each of these missions. Proposals are being solicited from now until Wednesday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m. EDT. Interested parties can refer to the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) for the official announcement: http://prod.nais.nasa.gov Companies interested in submitting a proposal should contact Jason C. Crusan by phone, 202/358-0635, or e-mail, jason.c.crusan@nasa.gov, for additional information. The Discovery and Atlantis Space Shuttle missions are the first since the Columbia accident in February 2003. Launch of Discovery for its Return to Flight mission is targeted for May 15 with a launch window that extends to June 3. Atlantis' targeted launch window is from July 12 through 31. During both missions, crews will test new hardware and techniques to improve Space Shuttle safety, as well as deliver supplies to the International Space Station.
