The annual series, which began in 1977, features the presentation of folk traditions from many cultures. The concerts take place on the Neptune Plaza at the front of the Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress between April and September. Adverse weather conditions sometimes force the concerts indoors. The 1986 series was produced with the assistance of the National Council for the Traditional Arts. Gibbs and Reid Baker. ---------------------------------------------------------------- APPENDIX A DANCE CONTENT Concert Description Djimo Kouyate Djimo Kouyate, a griot (oral historian, genealogist, and musician of the Mandinka people of West Africa) along with dancers Akua Femi Kouyate and Djiby Traore present West African music and dance. Dances performed include the dialidon, a traditional dance of the griot, and the lindiang, a social dance of the Mandika people. Dawne Tance and Tom Brzostowski Presentation of the Polish Harvest Festival, Dožynki, through dance and music provided by the dance group Dawne Tance and Tom Brzostowski's band. Dances performed include a chodzony for the harvest, dances from the Lubelskie region, a polonez, dances from the Kaszuby region, a kujawiak and a krakowiak.
