Building PRIMA on NMI Build & Test System

After you log in into a Metronome enabled machine (like nmi-s001.cs.wisc.edu), and you setup the Metronome environment

export PATH=$NMI_BIN:/usr/local/nmi-2.4.4/bin:$PATH
export PERL5LIB=$NMI_LIB:/usr/local/nmi-2.4.4/lib:$PERL5LIB

• Fetch the base script
• Create the NMI build files
• Submit the build

The base script can be found on the FNAL CD CVS site:

• PRIMA_v0_8
• Latest

If you just want to cut-and-paste, use:

• Globus Run ID - option -g <nr>
  This is the Globus version used by PRIMA.
  PRIMA_v0_8 was last build with nr. "98312".
  Ask VDT team which one is the correct one for you to use, or if you feel adventurous, look for the latest pinned VDT Globus build.
• PRIMA CVS revision - option -r <re>
  Select the CVS revision of PRIMA to compile.
  The latest version at the time of writing is "PRIMA_v0_8".
  If you do not specify anything, the head of the CVS will be used.
• PRIMA logical version - option -p <rev>
  A logical label to tag the build.
  For example, CVS rev. PRIMA_v0_8 should become "0.8".
• VDT PRIMA version - option -v <rev>
  The VDT label to tag the build.
  For example, CVS rev. PRIMA_v0_8 is part of "1.11.0".
• Notification email - option -e <email>
  This is the email address used to send notifications about the build process.

• Location of the gpt package - option -d <dir> -t <fname>
  This is the GPT package to use.
  The default should be fine for most cases.
• Output directory - option -o <abspath>
  Where to create the build files. Defaults to $PWD/nmi
• Platforms to compile on - option -f <list>
  Here you specify the platforms to compile on. Usefull when you want only a subset or to try a new one.
  Defaults to all the platforms known to successfully build PRIMA. ("x86_rhas_3,x86_rhas_4,x86_rhap_5,x86_64_rhas_3,x86_64_rhas_4,x86_64_rhap_5,ia64_rhas_3,ia64_rhas_4,x86_deb_4.0,x86_64_deb_4.0,x86_64_sles_9" at the time of writing)

For example, to build PRIMA_v0_8, the following command line has been used:

./prepare_nmi.sh -e myname@fnal.gov -v 1.11.0 -p 0.8 -r PRIMA_v0_8 -g 98312

cd nmi
nmi_submit build.submit
