Bridget Bryant Fingerprinted at Raleigh-Wake HQ.

1/20/2009–

Tuesday evening, Jan. 13th, Ms. Bridget Bryant, Leadership Coordinator for the Southeast Raleigh High School Magnet Program, completed her Civil Air Patrol application process and was fingerprinted during the Cadet program meeting.

Ms. Bryant became involved with the CAP cadet program with the urging and recruiting efforts of C/1LT Kyle Zobel, wanting to expand the cadet program of the Raleigh-Wake Composite Squadron Cadet Zobel, who attends Southeast Raleigh, went to the school administration and Ms. Bryant for permission to set up recruiting and looking for a sponsor.  After learning about the cadet program, Ms. Bryant and school officials felt the CAP Leadership program was a great fit for their Magnet Leadership Program.

Ms. Bryant and Cadet Zobel have been working together for the past few months coordinating a general recruiting effort and have completed the process of setting up a Flight as a sanctioned club at the school.  Although there are several units that meet in schools across the state, this is the first to be sanctioned as a school sponsored club.  Also Wake County School Board officials  working with the Southeast Raleigh Magnet Program are working to adopt the CAP School Enrichment Program into the school academic curriculum.

Unofficially termed "Bulldog Flight" after the school’s mascot, the Southeast Raleigh Magnet Flight will have their first open meeting Wednesday January 21st. at the high school on Rock Quarry Road.  Assisting with the launching of the program and serving as the flight testing officer will be 2nd.Lt. Terri Zobel, who also serves as the Raleigh-Wake Testing Officer.  Current plans for the opening are to have cadet members of Raleigh-Wake in attendance to offer support to the new flight as well as mentors.
