To mark the 56th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish-American Association (TAA), TAA and the U.S. Embassy recently sponsored an amateur photography contest with the theme: Framed Images of Turkish-American Friendship. On June 7, US Deputy Chief of Mission Nancy McEldowney and TAA Chairman Mr. Mehmet Buçukoğlu presented awards to the top photographers in the contest. Ceren Karacayir from İstanbul won the first prize; Faika Berat Pehlivan from Ankara won the second prize and Suzie Sims-Fletcher, a US citizen living in Mugla, won the third prize. These award-winning photographs which capture the special friendship shared by the Turks and Americans -- will be on exhibit at Ankara TAA until July 7, 2007.
