Excuse us for delaying the information regarding the 11th International Advanced ICFA Beam Dynamics Workshop on Beam Cooling and Instability Damping. It's not our fault as the Ship Agency in St.Petersburg who promised to do their best, turned out a disonest company and named the ship freightage so enormously high that naturally, we couldn't afford it (it would have a great influence on your registration fee). They made us change the mind and apply to another Ship Company in Moscow. Consequently, the route is changed. Some words about it:
The Workshop will take place on 18-26 June 1996 on board the ship from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod. This route takes you through the spectacular Upper Volga region and to the cities of the "Golden Ring"- Uglich, Yaroslav, and Kostroma- the magnificent gold-domed towns of medieval Russia rarely visited by tourists. Imagine, blue or golden onion-domed churches and cobbled alleys, dressed in painted wooden structures gracing the verdant banks of the mighty river.
Om your way, you will go down the 80-mile Moscow channel and traverse its 11 locks and many lakes. This is truly unique and rewarding cruise experience.
And this is an information about the Workshop itself:
dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the
Electron Cooling
on board a ship from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod
18 - 26 June 1996
Beams of particles can be cooled by a variety of methods and are cooled for a variety of purposes. These include damping rings for linear colliders, bunched beam cooling for collider rings, electron and laser cooling for crystal beams, and ionization cooling for muon colliders. Feedback and damping is essential in many particle beam devices. These include B-Factories. In this Workshop we shall review the present status of cooling techniques, feedback systems and the related problem of the beam physics, and also consider the methods of improving this techniques. We shall, in addition, consider new methods, their promise, and the required R and D prior to bringing them into common use.

Natalya DOKALENKO,JINR - symposium secretary
Alexander SKRINSKY, Budker INP - chairman
Andrey LEBEDEV, Lebedev IP RAS - co-chairman
Dieter MOEHL, CERN - co-chairman
The Workshop is scheduled to take place just after the European Particle Accelerator Conference which will be held in Barcelona.
* Participants who will be unable to board the ship by 20.30 on 18 June 1996, should contact the Secretariat beforehand to make arrangements.
The tentative cost of the Workshop is estimated at 800 USD per participant, 700 USD per accompanying person and 350 per child (in the range of 8-15 years old). Children under the age of 8 are not allowed on board the ship. The sum includes the Workshop Fee (organization expenses, Proceedings, publication, etc.), full board, excursion tickets and transportation.
Participants should be aware of the following registration fee payment:
The first half of the total sum has to be remitted NOT LATER THAN 1 APRIL 1996 at the following address:
The Bank for Foreign Trade of Russia
Serpukhovskoi Val 8,
Joint Institute for Nuclear Research
Account No. 170 087 87
COOLING and DAMPING-96 ( C & D - 96 )
The rest of the sum (the second half of the total sum) has to be paid in CASH at the registration on board.Credit cards and
traveller's checks are NOT ACCEPTABLE.
We also have to inform you that the ship offers a limited number of one berth cabins. Most of the staterooms are two berth rooms and so two persons may be accommodated together if they so wish. There are also three berth rooms for a whole family. Those registered in advance with their requests will be provided with the best choice. So early booking is encouraged.
Persons wishing to have a two berth cabin for a single use, will be charged a higher rate ( an extra charge is 200 USD).
Additional excursions can be organized in Moscow after the Workshop including visits to Moscow Physics Institutions, JINR (Dubna), Budker INP (Novosibirsk), and IHEP (Protvino).
In all cases participants should approach the Secretariat for details. Attendees intending to arrive in Moscow or Dubna prior to the given dates should inform the Secretariat about it beforehand to make reservations.
Abstracts should be mailed to the Conference Chairman early enough to arrive NOT LATER THAT 1 MARCH 1996 Deadline. Abstracts should be camera-ready and should not exceed a type-written page with the title, authors without figures and tables.
Participants are requested to fill in the following participation form:
