Yellow tangs are completely bright yellow, except for their tail spine which is bright white. A schooling species that feeds on algae, they can grow to about 8 inches. Although they are easily seen near coral reefs to about 140 feet during the day, at night yellow tangs retreat to cracks and crevices. Yellow tangs are the most collected aquarium fish in Hawaii.
