Starting with the first orbit past midnight local eastern daylight time on 18 June (the R+1), the thermal (Infrared) channel data will not be available for up to 48-hours (until early on 20 June) and could be degraded an additional 24-hours, until engineers have completed final recalibration actions. Users of direct readout data (RTD) and stored data from DMSP F17 should be aware of the loss of IR imagery. To ensure uninterrupted collection of thermal OLS stored smooth imagery in the early morning orbit, AFWA has requested IPO/SOCC mission planners temporarily give F13 priority over F17 for playback site contacts for the period 18-24 June. All other DMSP spacecraft will continue to provide routine data collection support. Visible channel data from F17 will continue however, scheduling of those collections will be at a lower priority than F13 and F16 for the week. Details/Specifics of Change:

On 18/19 June 07; the NOAA Satellite Operations Control Center (SOCC) and DMSP Engineers will perform OLS decontamination activities on F17/Ops 51.  Starting with the first orbit past midnight local eastern daylight time on 18 June (the R+1), the thermal (Infrared) channel data will not be available for up to 48-hours (until early on 20 June) and could be degraded an additional 24-hours, until engineers have completed final recalibration actions.

There is no backup date for this activity.
