are working to help participants get started.

the
southern
side of Geaorges Bank with good

inserting
all probes snuggly inside film cannisters to prevent the LED nub being
broken

and
AOLA's
Grant Moore.
- ONSET order is delivered with 24 readers and 15 AOLA tidbits
12 Sep 2001
- made slight changes to the convention on naming deployment
sites.
Where before participants were asked to use a 2-digit vessel code, they
are now allowed to name sites by their own initials. For example,
Steve Keane's sites are referred to as "SK01", "SK02", etc. Only
those participants who either a) have multiple vessels/captains or b)
have
initials the same as other eMOLT participants are ask to stick with the
vessel code convention for naming distinct geographic sites.
- Also note that the "probe setting" description is now worded
slightly
different.
It is now described as a "2-digit # referring to consecutive
reprogramming
of the particular probe at this particular site" whereas before this
probe
setting was incremented regardless of site. If the probe is moved
to a new site, the "probe setting" is now reinitialized to "1".

19 Aug 2001
13 Aug 2001
9 Aug 2001
- After consulting with Dave Casoni, decided to add the handwritten
log
option
for "documenting the deployments". The participant's manual now
mentions
this as one of four methods to record station/haul information. Ideally
we would want this submitted electronically but we will except the
handwritten
(ie hardcopy) logs for the time being. This only means the
association
representatives will be laden with data entry work.
- McCarron reported the first salinity probe has been ordered from
Seabird
6 Aug 2001
- removed link to CFN article until after publication
- updated the "results from the field" page with new chart of
participants

database (thanks to Don Landers at Northeast Utilities in Waterford,
Ct.)
10 July 2001

"to do" items and notified the administrators
- began planning a series of meetings with McCarron (July),
administrators
(August), and everyone participants included (this fall).

2001
as I will be away from my desk on conferences and
vacation....
I'll get back to it in July.
- More dockside tests of VEMCO, ONSET, and YSI probes were
conducted. The results
are documented in the "Probe Comparisons" section of the "Manual for
Administrators".
- The
first multi-month salinity timeseries off the Woods Hole dock was,
as expected, contaminated due to biofouling of the conductivity cell.
Bottles
samples (not yet analyzed) were taken on a weekly basis in order to
quantify
the degree of biofouling.

instructions
for initializing the tidBit probes to include a station number in the
"description"
record (see
manual).

so that you can start clicking on some of the southernmost blue dots
and
