FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AG TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1996 (202) 616-2771 TDD (202) 514-1888 ATTORNEY GENERAL RENO AND HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SECRETARY SHALALA TO MEET WITH ADVISORY COUNCIL ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Thursday, January 25th, Attorney General Janet Reno and Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala will meet with their Advisory Council on Violence Against Women from 10 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Great Hall at the Justice Department. This is the second meeting of the Advisory Council. Opening remarks by Attorney General Reno, Secretary Shalala and Director of the Violence Against Women Office Director Bonnie J. Campbell are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The remainer of the meeting will consist of committee reports in the areas of Media & Entertainment, Education, the Workplace, the Religious Community, Sports Industry, Health, and Law Enforcement. The Advisory Council provides Attorney General Reno and Secretary Shalala with practical and general policy advice concerning the implementation of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which was enacted as part of the 1994 Crime Bill.
