Brigadier Gen. JAMES MILLER accepted the appointment of Governor of this territory. He is probably now on his way, and may be expected soon as the water rises, which is very low at present.

---

A gentleman lately from near the Spanish lines, informs us that the Texas Expedition had been abandoned, and that the troops lately assembled at Nacogdoches, for the emancipation of that province, had been disbanded, and many of them had returned to their homes. - Our informant received the above information from a late officer in the expedition. If this information prove true, (and we fear it may), it will be a source of disappointment to a number of enterprising individuals who, allured by the flattering promises of General Long, have lately, and for a considerable time past gone down the Mississippi, on their way to the Texas. We understand that several families from the back parts of this territory have also gone over to the Texas.
