Technical Abstract: The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the primary in-house research organization of the United States Department of Agriculture. One component of the ARS Program, the Application Technology Research Unit (ATRU), is located in Wooster at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and at a worksite in Toledo at the University of Toledo. Interregional Project No. 4 (IR-4) was established by the U.S. Congress in 1976 to obtain pesticide registration and label expansion for specialty crops (minor crops; ornamental and food-use crops) in order to comply with FIFRA. It provides tools for growers of specialty crops in Ohio and throughout the nation. The IR-4 program is committed to providing safe and effective pest management tools for growers of specialty crops including food-use and ornamentals. IR-4 is a cooperative research project between ARS, federal research, state experiment stations and the private sector, collaborating with US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). The Program seeks to fill the gap between grower¿s needs and statutory requirements set by U.S. Congress.
